A bit of a strange time
This is likely going to be a much shorter update than the last one was, even though it has been quite a while. I may update it as I go and add more to this. But for now I just wanted to say a few words on how things are right now.
It would be fair to say that it was unexpected that we would be at this point, when looking back to when we first started to hear about this outbreak. Flashback to Chinese New Year when we had quite possibly the worst turn out to our event, due to the customers being fearful of their health . We thought that these were extreme precautions and like quite a lot of people here expected that us as a country, would be invincible to this virus. Now, all jobs have been cancelled for the remainder of the semester, Uni itself has been cancelled (although we still have exams...) and normal life as we knew it has been temporarily changed. Unfortunately due to my current position in life it means that I will no longer have an income (as I don't have tax returns for when the government required them for financial support) but I am in a lucky position to have savings to fall back on. Which is still unfortunate as I had planned to go travelling with this money but I will likely burn up through this money if times don't get any better soon. For the time being this is no new news to anyone and there isn't a single person that won't be affected by the measures in place. And I myself am quite late on giving this update, but I hope it will serve as a reminder for how things were during this period.
One thing that this outbreak has let me do, is to look back at this year so far a little bit more, and maybe not even this year but life in general. Which has been a good way to take my mind off what has been happening in the world. This all started after hearing about the sad and unfortunate passing of my Guidance Teacher at High School Mr Marshall, who passed away at only 60 years old. Not only did he help me with my application to get into University, for which I am very thankful for, he also was my main point of contact whilst I was a House Captain at the school in my final year. I am very thankful to have met and been influenced by him, but also to have been taught by him at school and send all my best wishes to his family at this sad time. This news as I said, had triggered me to think about life in the past and especially of myself back then at school. Thinking if I'd have been proud of where I am now, and for the most part I think I would be very proud of the things I have accomplished so far at University (maybe not first year tho...). From where my grades are currently sitting, to what I have achieved with my photography work so far. However I do not yet see this as a point to get comfortable in where I am at, as I still seek to do better especially with my degree which I am approaching the final stages of. There are also areas of photography that I am yet to tap into properly and I really want to get more into Motorsports Events and also Weddings. So I am already making plans to try and hit the ground running once this is all over.
I have also been active again with making videos! Below is a video that I shot for the Edinburgh University Hare & Hounds for their Virtual Road Relays that happened at the start of the month. The club managed to get over 500 people racing together virtually, including Olympic athlete Beth Potter.
For now...
Due to the lockdown I'm now staying in Edinburgh with my flatmates AJ & Pedley away from my family in Dunfermline. With online exams fast approaching it is now time to try and stay of Netflix and stick to studying.
